Program Information
Adult Pickleball is now under the Athletics Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. It is still very popular in the senior community and a great exercise for seniors so it will continue to be listed on the Active Older Adult programs page. Pickleball is a cross between badminton, tennis and ping-pong. It is played on a badminton-sized court (20ft x 44ft), with wooden paddles, a wiffle ball, and a net that is lowered to 34 inches. Players volley the ball back and forth to try to score on the opposition. Participants must bring their own paddles and ball. The sport was designed to be easy to learn for people of all ages and athletic abilities. In the past 10 years the growth of Pickleball has exploded, primarily in senior communities throughout the United States.
